This short story tells us about Mr Ramanan, who is very proud of himself as an Indian with very strong English in himself. He never belief that other language will give him any benefit more than English until he speak in Tamil with some British English accent. Her wife Victoria, who is the real name, was Vickneswari always proud of her roots and original country. Until one time in World War 2 give Mr Ramanan a new perception on learning others culture and language. When Japanese army try to find her for immediate silence or death, her wife came and save him by tolerate with the Japanese army and wear Kimono. At last, he became realize that without knowledge on other language and culture will make him left behind. He finally gives respect to her wife and appreciates her more. This situation happens in our culture. Some of us even forget how the manners as a Malay people like Malay words said ‘kacang lupakan kulit’ when been influence by western culture. So don’t ever look down on others culture and always be proud with our own culture.
